ENERGY BOOSTER


Schisandra has been used as a valuable tonic for improving vitality, strength, endurance and energy in China, Japan, Korea, Tibet and Russia. It has been used in the Far East regions in Russia by the Nanai hunters to prevent exhaustion and to reduce hunger and thirst.

LIVER PROTECTIVE


Schisandra is hepatoprotective and helps to regenerate damaged liver cells as it increases hepatic glutathione, an essential liver antioxidant. It has been shown to provide significant protection against chemical and drug – induced liver damage in animal studies.

THE FIVE FLAVOUR BERRY 

Schisandra’s name in Chinese is wu wei zei which means “five flavour fruit”. According to ancient Chinese texts, schisandra berries have five flavours (sour, salty, bitter, sweet and pungent), making them beneficial to the liver, lungs, spleen, heart and kidneys (yin organs).

As an immune amphoteric (an immune normaliser), schisandra can be used for immune depletion (HIV/ AIDS, CFIDS), hyperactive immune response (allergies or allergic asthma) and hypo/ hyper conditions such as immune hepatitis or connective tissue disorders. 


Schisandra seed extract has a stimulatory effect on the nervous system without being excitatory like caffeine and so enhances both mental and physical capacities. It is widely used in the treatment of stress – induced nervous system exhaustion and it increases the sharpness of sight and widening of the borders of the eyesight field in both people with normal sight and persons with myopic chorioretinitis, atrophy of the optic nerve and near – sightedness of a high degree.
